You are a nurturer. Your empathy, objectivity, and positivity set you apart. You are fascinated by human thought and emotion. Particularly, you are interested in helping young people grapple with the myriad stresses, pressures, and problems that pepper their lives. If you are interested in becoming a resource to help students become more rounded, less stressed, and happier individuals, then you might consider becoming a school counselor or school psychologist at an independent school.

Counselors and Psychologists at Independent Schools

Many independent schools take great pride in the personal attention they devote to each student and the care they take to foster strong senses of community. As independent school students strive to become better students, thinkers, and community members, they might feel overwhelmed by high-demand coursework, peer pressure, and the need to succeed. At boarding schools particularly, students experience a host of social intricacies, and sometimes they need a counselor to help them navigate what can become murky social waters.

Counselors at independent schools serve as nuclei for community activities and resources for students' well-being. Our client schools sometimes additionally seek a licensed school psychologist who can work with students and families to address, diagnose, and treat learning and behavioral problems as well as emotional or social issues.
