Uptick in Administrative Positions at CS&A
12/15/09

In a challenging job market, CS&A has recently enjoyed a dramatic 31% uptick in positions listings in several different administrative areas. We began the 2009-2010 recruitment year cautiously optimistic about faculty vacancies for next year, and initial indicators seems to be trending in a very positive direction!
CS&A Triples International Outreach
12/1/09

We continue to work with a growing number of schools overseas, particularly in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. CS&A has worked with international schools and candidates for the past 30 years; however, our involvement in the international market has increased dramatically over the past three years.

We work with international schools that follow a US curriculum or the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum. This subset of schools is interested in hiring American-trained and educated teachers.

Inform your placement contact that you are particularly interested in teaching abroad. It’s also helpful to have a good sense of where you want to go internationally, as well as where you will not consider. Keep in mind that over the past several years, there has been tremendous growth (and in turn, tremendous opportunity) in Asia and the Middle East.
CS&A Staff kick off another year of tutoring and mentoring in the community!
10/1/09

For the eighth year in a row, nearly every CS&A staff member has donated his/her time to one of two area programs: tutoring at the Boston Renaissance Charter School or mentoring at Trinity Church. At Renaissance, we take part in the “Everybody Wins!” program, reading books aloud to elementary students during the lunch-hour. The best part of these organized sessions is the informal chat that occurs: the kids and the staff members always look forward to it. In addition, this year, CS&A staff members took part in a new initiative through Trinity Church of Boston, working with middle school students who were preparing for the independent school application and testing process. Each week, team members paired off with 8th graders to study for entrance exams, and research local charter and independent schools. Getting out of the office and into these exciting, educational settings is always a treat for CS&A staff: we thank the Renaissance School and Trinity Church for inviting us to work with them.
