The Details: FORUM/NYC 2017

Manhattan skycrapers with Forum NYC logo and the details

After a successful hiring event in San Francisco last week, we’re heading into our penultimate conference, FORUM/NYC, tomorrow March 24. If you’re attending, here’s what you need to know.

1. The details:

Location- Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel, 811 7th Avenue 53rd Street, New York

Friday, March 24
7:00 a.m.- Candidate and school registration opens
8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.- Interviews

2. Log into the New York conference module.

This is imperative to a successful conference! Whether you’re a school or a candidate, you need to log in and review your schedule, any cancelled interviews, and any new ones that may come in at the last minute (which does happen!). Deciding not to attend after all? We need to know so we can adjust the schedules of everyone affected. Please communicate to your Placement Team (or use the emergency phone number) any changes in your attendance.

3. What's the buzz like?

FORUM/NYC is one of our favorite regional conferences. For a one-day event, there are many candidates and a significant number of schools registered. Keep that in mind if you feel anxious about the number of interviews on your schedule: schools only have a maximum of 18 interview slots throughout the day. For all conferences but this event particularly, it’s important to be patient and optimistic. It may feel packed and even a little overwhelming, but it’s also exciting and energetic.  At the end of the day, no matter the number of interview requests you receive, your file will still be accessible to all the schools that registered for the event — a huge bonus in your search.

4. What should you bring?

For both schools and candidates, we recommend bringing a laptop or tablet to access the conference module (and a charger!) or to use in between interviews. Schools have access to candidate resumes, but candidates can bring a few extra copies, too, if they’d like. Other than that, just bring a positive attitude!

5. Enjoy professional development panels in between interviews.

We’re pleased to share the following panel discussions for you to attend if you have open time slots on your schedule.

All panels will take place in the Columbus Circle room.
