    Louise Grotenhuis Assistant Head of Teaching and Learning, Appointed for 2017

    Louise will join Broome Street following a three-year tenure as Upper School Head at Kew-Forest School. She began her career teaching in California’s public schools, then taught at Menlo School and Mills College, an independent school and university, respectively. She then moved to New York to work with the Youth Development Institute. Louise holds a BA from Stanford, an MEd from Harvard, and an EdD from Mills College.

    Broome Street Academy is a tuition-free public charter high school devoted to providing students the necessary skills and support to graduate prepared for a successful future beyond high school. Its admissions policy gives preference to siblings and students who are homeless, in foster care, or from low performing schools.

  • Colgate University (Hamilton, NY)

    Jamiere Abney Senior Assistant Dean of Admission and Coordinator of Multicultural Recruitment, Appointed for 2017

    Jamiere joins Colgate University following a year as a Graduate Operations Intern at Tufts University. Previously, he served as Assistant Director of Admission at Willamette University, and as a Child Services Caseworker for the state of Oregon. Jamie holds a BA in Psychology from Willamette University and an MEd in Higher Education from Harvard University. Jamiere is Carney, Sandoe & Associates’ first placement in higher education!     Matthew Heard Head of School, Appointed for 2017

    Matthew will join Dutchess Day School following a four-year tenure as Middle School Head at Fay School in Massachusetts. Previously, he served as Upper School Head at Tuxedo Park School and Assistant Middle School Head at Greenwich Country Day School. He has also taught at the Chewonki Foundation schools and programs. Matt holds a BA from Lake Forest College and an MA from Columbia University. He is also a graduate of Tabor Academy in Massachusetts.

  • Dwight-Englewood School (Englewood, NJ )

    Mirangela Buggs Director of Equity and Social Justice, Appointed for 2017

    Mirangela will join Dwight-Englewood School following a nine-year tenure as Multicultural Affairs Director at Germantown Friends School. Previously, she led in a variety of social justice and not for profit organizations such as the lover East Side Anti-Displacement Project, Women of Colors Rap, Cambridge Community Services and Foundation, and Artists for a Just Future. Mirangela holds a BA in Interdisciplinary and Women’s Studies from Long Island University, an MA in Gender Studies and Feminist Theory from the New School for Social Research, and an EdD from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

    Chia-Chee Chiu Middle School Principal, Appointed for 2017

    Chia-Chee is currently serving as the Interim Middle School Principal at ECFS. Previously, she served as Asst. Middle School Principal for Academic Life. She has taught and led in Wisconsin’s public schools, as well as University Lake School, the School at Columbia University, and the Latin School of Chicago. Chia-Chee holds a BS in Ecology from Tulane University, an MA in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Kansas, and an MS in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

  • Harley School (Rochester, NY)

    Lawrence Frye Head of School, Appointed for 2018

    Larry Frye will transition to Head of Harley School after serving as the Upper School Head for 14 years. Prior to this appointment he spent 16 years at The Cambridge School of Weston in multiple roles. Here he began as a dorm parent, college counselor and a teacher, later transitioning to the Associate Director of Admissions and Director of Financial Aid. He then assumed the role of Director of Communications and finally became the Dean of Students and Boarding. Larry began his career working in higher education first as the Assistant Dean of Admissions at Hamilton College in NY, then as the Senior Assistant Director of Admissions at Wheaton College in MA. Larry holds a BA in English Literature and Religion from Hamilton College and an Ed.M from Harvard Graduate School of Education.

    Matthew will join Leman Manhattan Preparatory School following a four-year tenure as Student Dean at Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan. Previously, he has served as the Residential Dean of Utah State University and Landmark College in Vermont. Matthew holds a BA in English and Philosophy from Clark University, and an EdD in Leadership in Higher Education from Fielding Graduate University.

    This Fall, Alexandra will transition to Admissions Director for Leman Manhattan after a three year tenure as Director of Admissions & Financial Aid at East Woods School in New York. Prior to that appointment she served several roles in Admissions and Development in New York schools including Director of Development & Alumni Relations at Buckley Country School, Director of Admissions, Financial Aid & Marketing at Rodeph Sholom School, Associate Directer of Admissions and Director of Annual Giving at The Town School, Associate School Director of York Avenue Preschool and Director of Admissions at The Dwight School. Alexandra holds a BA in English Literature from Kenyon College and an MA in English Education from New York University.

    Thierry will join Lycee following a rich career as a Chief Financial and Operating Officer in various for-profit businesses such as Pernod Ricard and Malibu-Kahlua. He holds an MS in Business from EM Lyon Business School and has been a Trustee and Finance Committee Chair at French American School of New York since 2013.

She has also held administrative positions in such schools as Colegio Internacional de Caracas and Graded American school in Sao Paulo, and taught at many others. Audrey holds a BA from the University of Western Ontario, and an MEd from Oxford Brookes University.

    Lauren Mazzari Upper School Head, Appointed for 2017

    Lauren will join St. Luke’s following a six-year tenure as Asst. Head of Lacordaire Academy in New Jersey. She has been at Lacordaire since 1997, serving first as a teacher, then Lower School Academic Dean, Assistant Elementary School Principal, and Lower/Middle School Head in succession before her appointment as Asst. Head. She began her career as a teacher at Dwight School in New York City. Lauren holds a BS in Psychology from Georgetown University, and an MA in Educational Administration from Caldwell College.

    St. Luke’s School is a coeducational PK-8 Episcopal day school balancing basic skills and critical thinking with collaborative learning and interdisciplinary study.

    Alexis Mulvihill Asst. Head for Academic Affairs, Appointed for 2017

    Alexis has served as the Chair of the English Department at Trinity School since 2013, and has been a teacher at the school since 2011. She began her teaching career at American International School in Mallorca, Spain, before returning to the US to teach at North Shore Country Day School in IL and College Preparatory School in CA. Alexis holds a BA in English from the University of Chicago, and an MA in English from Stanford University.

    Jason will join Trinity School following a four-year tenure as Asst. Principal for Student Life at Ethical Culture Fieldston School. Prior to that appointment, he taught at the school for an additional four years. Jason has also taught at Lanier Middle School in Houston and North Star Academy in Newark. He holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Houston and an MA in Private School Leadership from the Klingenstein Center of Columbia University.
