Lila Lohr Senior Consultant, Coach

Lila is a Senior Consultant and Coach with our Leadership Coaching Practice.

Previous Experience

Lila’s remarkable independent school leadership experience spans both coasts and includes a cornucopia of exceptional independent schools. For the past 20+ years, she has served as Interim Head of School at institutions including Friends School of Baltimore (MD), Princeton Day School (NJ), Indian Creek School (MD), Katherine Delmar Burke School (CA), St. Paul’s School for Girls (MD), Town School for Boys (CA), Garrison Forest School (MD), Marin Country Day School (CA), University Prep (WA), and most recently at St. Catherine’s School (VA).

She has also served as Headmistress of St. Paul's School for Girls, Head of School at Princeton Day School, and Senior Vice President in charge of Day Schools at Chancellor Academies (FL). Earlier in her career, she held various positions at Bryn Mawr School (MD), including Director of the Middle School, Director of the Upper School, and Assistant Headmistress. She began her career as a teacher and coach at the Independent Day School (CT).

Lila has a history of successful work with AIMS, sitting on the Academic Advisory Committee, serving as Chair of the Professional Development Committee, and serving as Chair and Lead Teacher for AIMS’ Beginning Teacher Institute, as well as serving as both Vice President and President of AIMS’ board of trustees. Lila is the former Vice President of The Heads Network and was on the Sitting Heads Advisory Committee of NAIS. She has sat on the board of trustees with a number of organizations, including St. Paul’s School for Girls, Center Stage, McCarter Theatre, Maryland Historical Society, Johns Hopkins Hospital, Goucher College, and Garrison Forest School — Lila previously served as the President of the Board at Garrison Forest will assume that role again on July 1.

She has also authored a book on the private school admission practice, commissioned by Petersons, and has published articles on education and parenting in various publications, including Independent School Magazine and Family Magazine.

Education & Interests

A graduate of Garrison Forest School, Lila received her bachelor's degree from Vassar College and her M.Ed. from Goucher College.

Lila and her husband, Bobby Ittmann, share six children and five grandchildren between them. They love to travel, entertain and visit with friends and family, play golf, read, and spend time in Florida and Maine.
