Nora Malone is a Senior Consultant for the firm’s Domestic Heads of School Practice.
Nora served as Head of School at Village School (CA) from 1999 to 2020, and was been instrumental in shaping Village into the wonderful and successful institution that it is today. Nora’s accomplishments include increasing faculty retention from 50% to nearly 95% and faculty diversity to over 40%, increasing enrollment from 250 to 290, spearheading two capital campaigns, implementing a strategic plan and leading campus expansion, and enhancing the curriculum through character and social education programs. Nora also served as Assistant Head and Director of Admissions of Village School from 1997 to 1999.
Nora’s career in education began at Campbell Hall School (CA) where she taught English, middle school science, and history. She then transitioned to Pilgrim School (CA), teaching English and health education as well as serving as the Assistant Director of Admissions for four years. She became Director of Admissions in 1993, a role she held before joining Village in 1997.
Nora has served as a member of the California Association of Independent Schools Board of Directors, vice chair and member of the CAIS Board’s executive committee, and both vice chair and chair of the CAIS Elementary Board of Standards. She has also served as chair or team member on 14 accreditation teams for CAIS since 2000. She is currently a member of Los Angeles School Heads and the Windward School Board of Trustees.
Education and Interests
Nora received both her B.A. in English and M.A. in Educational Administration from California State University, Northridge; she is pursuing a Ph.D in Leadership and Change from Antioch University.
Nora loves to read and is fascinated with learning all she can about leadership. She enjoys spending time with friends and family, especially her four young grandchildren. She also enjoys traveling, spending time at the beach (especially in Hawaii), and exercising.
