Peter Philip Senior Consultant

Peter serves as a Senior Consultant, focused on retained domestic Head of School searches and especially on searches for elementary schools (PK-8/9). Peter has also supported schools in searches for key administrators and he has provided consulting to boards of trustees on governance and strategic planning.

Peter has supported 15 elementary schools seeking new Heads including St. Matthew’s (CA), Palm Beach Day (FL), Riverside (FL), Bement (MA), Grosse Pointe Academy (MI) and Canterbury (NC). He has also supported searches at secondary boarding schools such as Rabun Gap-Nacoochee (GA) and Kents Hill (ME) and he has worked with K-12 schools such as Miami Country Day (FL) and Trinity (NY).

Previous Experience

Peter was the Head of Tower School (MA) from 2000-2014. His early work was at Hotchkiss School (CT) where he taught history, lived in the dormitory and coached. At Hotchkiss, Peter served as Director of College Counseling and then Dean of Admission and Financial Aid.

Education & Interests

Peter has been in the independent school world his entire life; he graduated from Buckley School in New York City before going on to Hotchkiss. He earned his B.A. from Yale and an MALS from Wesleyan. He lives in Florida where he serves on the board of St. Joseph’s Episcopal school. He enjoys yoga, golf, and walks with his family.
