Tom joined CS&A in 2019 and is a Consultant for the firm’s Admissions & College Counseling Practice as well as our Head of School and Key Administrator Practices.

During his tenure at CS&A, Tom has worked on searches with Macalester College, Colorado College, Amherst College, Connecticut College, and Case Western Reserve University. In the independent school sphere, Tom has worked with The Dalton School (NY), The United Nations International School (NY), Marin Country Day School (CA), The Buckley School (CA), University School (OH), French American International School (CA), Milken Community School (CA), and Oregon Episcopal School (OR), among others.

Previous Experience

Tom brings great admissions experience from the worlds of both independent schools and higher education. Tom joined CS&A after eight years as the Cynthia A. White Director of West Coast Admission for Connecticut College. Prior to Conn College, Tom served as Director of West Coast Admission for Sarah Lawrence College, Director of Admission, and Acting Dean of Enrollment at Reed College, Co-Director of College Counseling at The Crossroads School (CA), Director of Undergraduate Admission at Pacific University, and Assistant Director of Admission at The Webb Schools (CA). He has also worked at The Catlin Gabel School (OR) as Publications Director.

Education and Interests

Tom is a graduate of the Hotchkiss School (CT) and earned his bachelor’s degree at Colby College.

In addition to a 40-year career in education, Tom has spent time as a bartender and short-order cook, a state-championship high school tennis coach, a wrangler on a dude ranch, and a seaweed harvester. A fifth-generation Oregonian, Tom enjoys exploring the Northwest, always in search of a great ski slope or an empty tennis court.
