Carter Abbott is a Consultant with our Search & Consulting Group.

Carter has extensive experience in athletics and school administration. Currently serving as the Director of Athletics and Director of Student Success at The Pingry School, Abbott oversees a robust interscholastic athletics program and manages a department of over 120 coaches and 400 student-athletes across 23 sports. Abbott has played a pivotal role in the strategic development and execution of Pingry’s athletic facilities, including the construction of the $15 million Bugliari Athletic Center.

Abbott’s professional journey includes leadership roles such as Associate Director of College Counseling, Associate Athletic Director, and 25 years of coaching lacrosse and soccer. Beyond school settings, Abbott’s leadership extends to the national level, having served on the Board of Directors at US Lacrosse, where Abbott led the Strategic Plan for the Women’s Game Committee. This transformative leadership helped shape the future of women’s lacrosse in the United States. An advocate for student well-being and community development, Abbott also served as Director of Community Wellness at The Pingry School, spearheading initiatives in Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and mental health programming. Abbott’s inclusive leadership style and authentic communication skills have made a significant impact in both educational and athletic spheres.

A graduate of Princeton University with an A.B. in History (cum laude) and Harvard University with a Master’s in School Leadership, Abbott is also recognized for excellence in coaching, having received multiple accolades including NFHS NJ State Coach of the Year and induction into the US Lacrosse New Jersey Chapter Hall of Fame. She lives in Peapack, NJ with her husband and two daughters. In her spare time, she likes gardening, exercising and sitting on the patio on a late summer night.
