Donisha Thaxton is Carney, Sandoe & Associates’ Associate Director of Conferences and a Senior Placement and Recruitment Counselor. In her multifaceted role, Donisha plays an integral part in the Carney Sandoe process—each of her responsibilities contributes meaningfully to the success of both candidates and client schools. She leads the firm’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) placement work, supporting educators pursuing DEIB roles in independent schools across the country and around the world.

Donisha also oversees Carney Sandoe’s national conference presence, traveling year-round to represent the firm and helping attendees navigate the registration process and connect meaningfully with the CS&A team.

Before joining Carney Sandoe in 2018, Donisha built a career in higher education and student affairs at Tufts University, serving as a Residence Director and later as Assistant Director of Residential Education. There, she hired, trained, and supervised more than 100 student staff members annually, developing her passion for leadership and community engagement.

Donisha’s introduction to independent schools came through the Math and Science for Minority Students ((MS)²) program at Phillips Academy Andover—a transformative three-summer academic experience. It was during an (MS)² visit to Bowdoin College that she discovered her love for the school, where she went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts in Biology in 2014.

Originally from Atlanta, Donisha now considers Boston her second home. Outside of work, she enjoys musical theater, sings in a local choir, and is always on the hunt for the next great meal in the city’s vibrant food scene.
