Jamie Estes is a Consultant with The Search & Consulting Group.  He brings almost two decades of experience to his independent school executive search work. Since 2007, he has led over 200 successful administrative searches across the South with Southern Teachers Agency, including more than 100 head of school appointments. His expertise spans personality science, talent strategy, and executive transition, and he is known for his deep knowledge of school culture and the search process.

Before joining Southern Teachers Agency, Jamie spent six years at Rocky Mount Academy (NC), serving as Head of Upper School and teaching English. He started his independent school career as an English teacher at Fork Union Military Academy (VA), where he developed a passion for mentoring students and fostering academic engagement. Jamie also coached varsity soccer at both schools.

Jamie’s extensive speaking portfolio reflects his commitment to professional development and leadership advancement. He has been a featured speaker or panelist at national and regional conferences, including the NAES Biennial Conference, the Society of Classical Schools Symposium, and the NCAIS Heads and Trustees Meeting. He also holds advanced certification in the Hogan Assessment suite, supporting his work in leadership evaluation. 

Jamie earned his M.Ed. in Educational Administration from Union Institute & University, Vermont College, and his B.A. in English from Washington & Lee University. A proud graduate of St. Anne’s-Belfield School in Charlottesville, VA, Jamie is passionate about helping schools find leaders who align with their values and inspire their communities. Outside work, he enjoys spending time at Smith Mountain Lake, singing with his wife and youngest son in the church choir, and volunteering through Rotary International.
