Charlie Britton Senior Consultant

Charlie is a Senior Consultant for the Head of School Practice. He joined CS&A this past year and is already involved in the head of school search process, serving as a consultant for a search at Bullis School.

Previous Experience

Charlie joins CS&A from McDonogh School (MD) where he served as Head of School from 2007-2018. Before coming to McDonogh, he served for five years as head of school at Casady School (OK). He began his career as a teacher and coach at Trinity-Pawling School (NY) and has served as English department chair at the St. Mark's School of Texas and head of the senior school at Shady Side Academy (PA). While at McDonogh, he was instrumental in creating Folio, a professional development program used by over 160 independent schools. He has served as board chair of Folio Collaborative and currently is a trustee of the Association of Independent Maryland Schools (AIMS).

Education & Interests

Charlie holds a B.A. from Lake Forest and an M.A. in English from Middlebury. He enjoys golf and fishing and is a voracious reader. He is a native of Southport, Maine.
