Charlie Britton joined CS&A in 2018 from McDonogh School (Owings Mills, MD) where he served as Head of School since 2007. Before McDonogh, he was Head of School and English teacher at Casady School (Oklahoma City, OK), and Head of the Senior School and an English teacher at Shady Side Academy (Pittsburgh, PA). He has held various coaching, teaching, and supervisory roles at St. Mark’s School of Texas (Dallas, TX) and Trinity-Pawling School (Pawling, NY), and has also worked as a reporter and editor.
He has served on committees, councils, and boards for the Southwest Preparatory Conference, Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS), the ISAS President’s Search Committee, Private and Parochial ARTS for Students (PPARTS), and was a delegate to the Episcopal Diocese of Oklahoma. Charlie has also presented at the National Association of Independent Schools Annual Conference. He is on the board of the Association of Independent Maryland Schools.
A graduate of an independent school himself (Lawrence Academy in Groton, MA), Charlie received a B.A. in English from Lake Forest College and an M.A. in English from Middlebury College.
