Math Teaching Jobs

Teaching Math at an Independent School

In an independent school, the study of math is no longer associated with rote memorization and dry textbook practice problems. Increasingly, independent schools are moving toward a math curriculum that embraces the 21st century education tenets of critical thinking, problem solving, accessing and analyzing information, and fostering imagination and creativity. The diversity of methods for teaching math has increased exponentially in the past decade.

Math teachers in independent schools teach students how to understand concepts rather than just memorize formulas, how to use technology such as graphing calculators and computers, and how to solve problems that affect real people every day. Our client schools are increasingly receptive to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education models, and math teachers at independent schools might work in tandem with teachers in other departments.
