Chemistry Teaching Jobs
You are fascinated by the basic elements that are the foundation of everything on Earth. Even though you can’t see atomic particles, you find their interactions fascinating.
Energy and entropy are constantly on your mind, you can balance a chemical equation like it’s nobody’s business, and you get a rush from working in the lab. You really do believe that chemistry is “the central science,” and you’re excited about the connections among chemistry, biology, physics, geology, and other scientific branches. If this sounds like you, then you might consider teaching chemistry at an independent school.
Teaching Chemistry at an Independent School
Independent schools are increasingly focusing their resources on robust science programs, with strong faculty in both their physical science and natural science departments. Chemistry teachers are no exception; our client schools are looking for dynamic, personable subject masters who can bring chemistry to life.
Chemistry teachers in independent schools should have interest and experience in working with children. They should have relevant research experience as well as experience teaching a range of chemistry levels, from introductory chemistry to an AP curriculum. Independent schools value a hands-on, collaborative learning environment with an emphasis on lab work and explorative discussion. Teachers who have an integrated learning approach or who are interested in teaching electives (organic chemistry or neuroscience, for example) are also attractive candidates.
