2019 Keynote Speaker: Dr. Karen E. Eshoo
As current Head of School at King School in Stamford, CT, Karen began her tenure in 2018. Prior to King , Karen served as the second Head of School of Vistamar School in El Segundo, CA from 2011-2018. Before joining Vistamar, she spent over 20 years in teaching and leadership in independent schools as a high school teacher, the Middle School Head and the Principal of Grades 1-8 at Sacred Heart Schools in Atherton, CA (also her alma mater), and the Assistant Head of School at Lick-Wilmerding High School in San Francisco. She holds a BA in philosophy from the University of San Diego, masters degrees in education and history from Stanford University, and an Ed.D in education from the University of California, Berkeley.
Karen is a member of the faculty of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) Institute for New Heads. She also previously served on the Boards of the California Association of Independent Schools (CAIS) and the California Teachers Development Collaborative (CATDC).
Outside of work, she loves to cook amazing dinners for friends and family. While Karen is not a great athlete, she is a consistent exerciser and an avid sports fan. She also enjoys traveling internationally, reading about current events around the world, and dabbling in stand-up comedy.
2019 Keynote Speaker: Nicole A. DuFauchard
Nicole A. DuFauchard has been the Head of School of The Advent School in Boston in since 2013. Prior to her time at Advent, she served as the Director of Multicultural Affairs at Providence Day School in Charlotte, NC. Nicole holds a BA in political science and international affairs, and a MA in organizational communications and development with a concentration on cross cultural communications.
Nicole has spent the last 20 years exploring equity and access in education. Nicole is a faculty member for the National Association of Independent Schools’ (NAIS) Diversity Leadership Institute, an Association of Independent Schools of New England (AISNE) board member and the chair of the trustee committee, a board member for Waynflete School, the Elementary School Heads’ Association (ESHA) Membership Committee Member on Diversity, the ESHA Annual Conference Chair for 2016, and a Partner for the Planning Committee for the 2017 Progressive Educators Network Annual Conference. Nicole works with school boards across the country to engage in equity and justice and serves as a mentor for administrators and faculty of color and women aspiring for school leadership roles with NAIS and AISNE. She is a corporation member of the Community Music Center in Boston and a Global Ambassador to the Queen Mortos School in Vilnius, Lithuania.
Nicole lives in Boston with her husband Ray, her son Raymond, and their french bulldog Miles Morales Davis DuFauchard.
