Special Education Teaching Jobs

You are compassionate and understanding, a believer in the ability of all students to learn and thrive in an academic setting.

You are interested in studying how learning develops in distinct individuals, and you are excited by the challenge of tailoring learning to different students' abilities and mindsets. If you want to help every student make a positive contribution to the classroom and the school community, then you should consider a career as an independent school special education teacher.

Special Education Teaching Jobs at Independent Schools

Independent schools are interested in student-centered approaches to learning that are elastic, expanding to fit the contours of each student. There are a variety of opportunities for teachers interested in pursuing a career in special education at an independent school. Special Education teachers and Learning Specialists work with learning disabled students and help them integrate into the classroom and the school community. Independent schools also frequently hire reading specialists, who specialize in literacy development, particularly for younger students.

Job candidates should be eager, passionate individuals who are open to new teaching methods and who are up-to-date on the latest research on learning disabilities and differences. Teachers should be excited about incorporating 21st century education models into a special education curriculum and classroom.
