FORUM Prep: What Schools Are Interviewing?

When you register for a CS&A hiring Forum, you will receive access to our online forum module a few weeks before each event.

Through the module, you can view your schedule and block off your availability, send messages through the module’s Message Center, and view a list of all the schools that have registered to attend. When you scroll through this list–which can stretch to 200 schools at events such as our upcoming FORUM/Boston this week–you’re probably focused on one important question: “Which schools are interviewing for my subject area?”

The first thing you should do when you gain access to the forum module is cross-reference the list of attending schools with any positions to which you have already been referred. Then, use the message center to send messages to any schools that have already piqued your interest, with the full knowledge that they have an open position in your area.

Some schools list their positions with us confidentially, so it may be the case that your materials have already been referred to a school attending the conference–and you don’t even know it. Additionally, at this point in the year, some schools may have a general idea of what positions they may be seeking, but the opening may not yet be firm enough to list with us. For these reasons, there may be other opportunities that you–and your placement associate–are unaware of.  With this in mind, you should review the full list of attending schools and send messages to all schools of interest, regardless of whether or not you are aware of an opening in your field. If there is a school whose mission, values, curriculum, location, etc. align with your interests, then feel free to reach out and request an interview.
