Remembering John Chubb

John Chubb, the President of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), has died.

On behalf of all of us at Carney, Sandoe & Associates, we want to send our deepest condolences to John’s family as they mourn his passing. We also send our thoughts and prayers to Donna Orem and the entire team at NAIS during this very difficult time.

John and I overlapped a great deal at various conferences and events, and I always felt inspired and challenged by him. You could tell – not only by his observations, but also by his questions – that he was passionately committed to improving the lives of children through education. He was a big, bold thinker; he also laughed easily and conveyed a kindness that I won’t forget.

John seemed to become most animated whenever the conversation turned to how education could help the disadvantaged move to an improved station in life. Actually, to rephrase: John often turned the conversation to how education could help children in need – children who didn’t necessarily have the financial or social backing to attend private schools. On this topic he was not only an expert, he was an ardent champion and campaigner.

More information about John’ s incredible contributions the field of education, as well as information about his background and family, can be found here.

We have lost a visionary leader and one who left a large and indelible mark.

All of us at CS&A send our love and support to John’s family and to our friends at NAIS.
