LINK@NAIS in Baltimore: All You Need to Know

Baltimore downtown cityscape at dusk with LINK logo and the details

With half of our 2017 hiring conferences already under our belts, we're gearing up for one of our favorite events, our LINK conference held concurrently with the NAIS Annual Conference. A different location each year, this year's event takes place in Baltimore. Here are all the details you need to know and some last-minute reminders to help you make sure you have a great conference experience.

1. The details:

2. How is this event different from other FORUMS?

Because LINK is held concurrently with the NAIS Annual Conference, schools will be coming and going much more frequently than at our other events. This means as a candidate, you should set your expectations for a different kind of conference experience. You should be prepared for some downtime at the event, but don't fret! This event lends itself to making things happen on-site. It is likely that many schools will schedule interviews at the conference itself.

3. Log into the LINK conference module.

We can’t stress this enough! Whether you’re a school or a candidate, it is absolutely imperative that you login and review a few items. For candidates: You should be checking your schedule often, marking your availability, and letting any schools who have scheduled interviews with you know right away if you’re not interested. This is even more important since at LINK, schools are often busy scheduling interviews up until the day of the event and even during the conference itself. If you only have one or two interviews, don't stress. You should also be using the Messages section of the conference module to send a brief message to any schools you are interested in.

For schools: You’ll want to be checking your schedule often, making note of any candidates that may have cancelled interviews or of any interviews we set up for you. You should also check the Messages section often, as candidates interested in your school will use that feature to reach out and introduce themselves.

4. What should you bring?

For both schools and candidates, we recommend bringing a laptop or tablet to access the conference module (and a charger!) or to use in between interviews. Schools have access to candidate resumes, but candidates can bring a few extra copies, too, if they’d like. Other than that, just bring a positive attitude and your best interview vibes!

5. Communicate, communicate, communicate.

Running late? Family emergency? We know some circumstances are unavoidable. All we ask is that you let us know about any change in your plans so we can work to accommodate anyone who might be affected by the change. If you’re a candidate, you’ll receive a phone number you can call in emergencies on the day of the event. You should also email your Placement Team to let them know of any schedule changes.

Additionally, if you're attending the NAIS Annual Conference, don't miss the sessions presented by members of our Search Group!
