Record a Blooper? Here’s What To Do
By now, we hope you’ve recorded a video introduction. Hands-down, it’s the best tool available in our system for making a personal connection with schools early on in the hiring process. And you don’t need to take our word for it—check out the following testimonials from schools and candidates:
“I love the new candidate video feature! Wish more candidates took advantage of it in your system!” – Head of School, Independent School in San Francisco, February 6, 2014
“When I first spoke to the Academic Dean on Friday in our Skype interview, one of the things she mentioned was my video interview, which wouldn’t have existed without Carney Sandoe. She said it really caught her attention! So…thanks for encouraging me to do it!” – Candidate Rachel W., March 31, 2014
We understand that recording a video can be nerve-wracking. What should you say? How will you sound? We’ve tried to mitigate discomfort as much as possible: you only need to answer one question, talk for two minutes or less, and you can review and re-record your video as many times as you like until you get it just perfect.
But what if you accidentally submit your video before you’re ready, or you make a mistake and want to record again? In this situation, email your Placement Associate. We’ll then connect with our vendor, who will need to delete your video introduction for us and reset it so you can record it again. This can take a few days to go into effect. If you notice that your video has been deleted from CandidateConnect but you don’t have a new link yet, you can go into the “Videos” section and click “Request New Video Link.” You’ll then be able to record a new introduction.
We can’t stress it enough—schools want to get more personal with candidates, more quickly. Take every step you can to improve your job search: record your video introduction today.
