Summertime Kudos

illustration of five stars in a row with a hand placing the fifth star

We've all heard (and probably used) the phrase “teamwork makes the dream work.” As cheesy as the phrase can sound, we take its meaning to heart at Carney Sandoe.

The strength of our firm lies not only in our collective efforts but also in the individuals who comprise our team. Without their unwavering passion, empathy, and dedication to their work, we would be unable to support and elevate independent schools in the face of rapid change. Our team members' collective brilliance and commitment to their craft form the bedrock of our organization, and we owe our continued success to the exceptional talents and extraordinary efforts of our team.

At Carney Sandoe, we deeply value a culture of gratitude — a culture where we intentionally take the time to express appreciation for one another. The power of acknowledging someone's contributions, no matter how small, cannot be underestimated. It has proven to be a transformative practice, particularly during the challenging times of the past few years.

With this spirit in mind, we are seizing this opportunity to share some of the recent testimonials we have received. These heartfelt notes shed light on the exceptional dedication and outstanding achievements of our colleagues, leaving no doubt that they all deserve five stars for their remarkable contributions. Kudos to each and every one!

From our Placement Group:

“I wholeheartedly recommend Carney, Sandoe & Associates to anyone in the education sector seeking exceptional career opportunities. Their professionalism, expertise, personalized approach, and unwavering support make them stand out from the competition. With Carney, Sandoe & Associates by your side, you can be confident that your career aspirations will be met with the utmost care and consideration.”  — Rebecca Haber, elementary candidate

“Once again, Carney Sandoe made the match! I can’t wait to start teaching at my new school this Fall. I’ve worked with Carney Sandoe throughout my teaching career and have been offered a wealth of opportunities at each stage of the journey. My placement associate took the time to understand who I am as a person and a professional and what I was looking for in a school community. Afterwards, she sent me referrals based on that. Along the way, my placement associate was available to field questions about the schools and how best to prepare for interviews. I highly recommend Carney Sandoe to teachers both new and experienced. I trust them to continue to offer sound guidance and make the right introductions as my career progresses.” — Robert Brutus, Latin candidate

“Thank you, Justine. I am happy to have been a part of this experience – the help from CS&A has been fantastic, and your follow ups have really been a great help.” — Joy Bassil, guidance counselor candidate

“Carney Sandoe has been an instrumental part of my job search as a teacher! The team I worked with (Leslie Ganson and Julia Sinton) were extremely attentive to my interests and helped place me with schools that matched my needs and values. As a new teacher, registering with CS&A was valuable because they worked with me to decide what types of schools I was interested in and coached me through how best to apply to these jobs. The job search and hiring process can be very complicated and confusing, and having someone to guide me through it was essential! I would highly recommend their services to any young professionals looking to get into the independent school world.” — Spencer Royston, Teaching Fellow candidate

“I accepted the offer on Sunday! I am so, so pleased, happy, and relieved. Thank you both so very much for everything you did on my behalf and do on teachers' behalves in general. I never would have known about the opportunity if it weren't for you. I wish I could repay you both in some way. I was always confident in both you and Andrea and I always felt that the process, from beginning to end, was smooth and going very well. I really do hope this isn't the end of the road, but if it is, thanks so much again. I'll always appreciate your work and what you've done on my behalf.” — Randall Todd Pippenger, history candidate

“I am a graduate student who spent this past year finishing my dissertation and teaching college courses while also looking to make the jump into the independent school world following graduation. As a PhD student, all of my mentors only knew the academic job market, so without the guidance of both Liam and Becca I do not think I would have found a teaching position I am excited about to start my career path into independent schools directly after graduation. I feel really fortunate to have worked with Liam and Becca these past few months, and although I plan to stay at my new position for at least a few years, I know that once I begin another job search my first step will be to sign up with Carney Sandoe again.” — Kathleen Carroll, English candidate

And from our Search & Consulting Group…:

“Last week Barbara Chase and I wrapped up our year of coaching. I want to thank you for recommending her to me. She was of tremendous help to me in my first year as board chair, guiding, supporting and cheering for me. I know it sounds trite, but I honestly could not have done it without her. I used our biweekly sessions to prepare for important meetings, think through upcoming issues, and strategize how to partner better with my head of school. I don't have to tell you how knowledgeable and experienced she is as a past head, and her expertise with governance and board-related issues was invaluable. I also felt that I connected meaningfully with Barbara and hope we will remain in touch in the future. She is a warm, caring individual who showed true concern for me and made time for me outside of our scheduled meetings if something came up.” — Melanie Weston, board chair coaching client
